Product Questions
-
Can this screw be used to install landscape timbers?
Yes, you can use the OMG Log Hog screws vertically into your landscape timbers. The screws are not meant to be used at angles so be sure to install them vertically and we believe you'll see great strength and durability with this fastening system.

What is the main difference between the regular Olylog screw versus the Log Hog screws? Which one should I use for my 6x8 \"D\" logs?
There are a couple of differences between the Olylog and Log Hog screws. First, the Log Hog screw has a larger diameter than the Olylog and it has 1" of extra thread on the end of the screw. The Log Hog screw will give you more pull-down for logs which might have a "crown". Both screws are self-tapping and will come with its own hex head bit in every box. The Olylog screw is typically spaced every two feet and the Log Hog has a three foot spacing. Therefore, you won't need as many Log Hog screws as you would with the Olylog screws. I would recommend that you use the 10" Olylog or Log Hog for your 8" logs. Either product will be an excellent choice for your construction project.

I am building a Log Home in Scotland using a tongue and grooved log which is 180mm x 114mm or 7\" x 5\". This Scandinavian sourced house does not traditionally use OlyLog screws however I would like to use them to reduce the settling time and to straighten twisted logs. Could you advise me on the spacing between the screws and whether I should use OlyLog screws or the heavier HogLog screws for this size of log.
FastenMaster would recommend that you use either the 9" or 10" Olylog screw placed every two feet. You can also use the 9" or 10" Log Hog screws placed every three feet for extra pull down strength. The Log Hog screw does have an extra inch of thread making it a very heavy duty product.
