• Bug Juice Insecticide can be applied on most exterior surfaces including Log Homes, Exterior Walls, Decks, Exterior Doors, Doorways and Door Jambs, Sheds, Eaves, Plumbing Entry Points, Skirting Boards, and Window Jambs and Sills.
• Bug Juice can be applied in most Interior surfaces such as Commercial Kitchens and Kitchen Pantries, as well as on Walls, Floors, and Ceilings.
• Bug Juice should not be applied to formica, plastic, or other similar surfaces.
• Bug Juice can generally be used anywhere insects enter a home or gather.

Special Notes Concerning Application:
• When mixing Bug Juice into an oil-based stain, the product must be applied to the surface within 6 hours. When mixing Bug Juice into a latex paint, the product must be applied to the surface within 3 hours. If you are not going to use the entire 5-gallon pail within this time frame, it is better to mix the Bug Juice into the stain one gallon at a time.
• Bug Juice cannot be mixed with water.

Will Bug Juice Repel Bugs?
• Bug Juice Insecticide does not repel insects, but rather is designed to kill them.
• The insecticide begins to work after an insect makes contact with the treated surface. After the insect lands or crawls on a treated surface the feet of the insect absorb the active ingredient.
• Most insects will die within 24 hours of contact with the treated surface.

Insects Controlled:
• Bug Juice kills crawling and flying insects such as the American Cockroach, Citrus Weevil (Mexican, Leafnotcher, and Diapreps), German Cockroach, Imported Fire Ants, Leafcutter Ants, Mosquitoes, Silverfish, Southern Fire Ants, Pecan Weevil, Fleas, Ticks, Black Widow Spiders, and Hobo Spiders.

Does Bug Juice Insecticide Affect the Appearance of the Finish?
• Bug Juice will not affect the color or drying time of the coating.

Maintenance:
• Walla Walla recommends the treated surface be hosed off and cleaned with water twice a year.
• Bug Juice will typically last two - five years when mixed with stains or paint and the exterior has been cleaned on a regular basis.
• Bug Juice cannot be mixed with water to make a stand-alone topical application. Bug Juice must instead be used as an additive to a finish.

How To Mix Bug Juice with WoodGuard Exterior Stain:
• When mixing Bug Juice with WoodGuard stain, Penetrol must be used to ensure that the Bug Juice remains effective.
• Ratio for 1 Gallon Treatment: 4 fl. Oz. of Penetrol to 1.66 fl. Oz. of Bug Juice. Mix the Penetrol and Bug Juice thoroughly together, making an emulsion. Then add the mixture to the WoodGuard stain. Mix thoroughly.
• Ratio for 5 Gallon Treatment: 20 fl. Oz. of Penetrol to 8.3 fl. Oz. of Bug Juice. Mix the Penetrol and Bug Juice thoroughly together, making an emulsion. Then add the mixture to the WoodGuard stain. Mix thoroughly.

Product Questions

  • What happens if I do not use the bug juice within 3 hrs (for water based paints).

Bug Juice is meant to be mixed with a water-based stain and used the same day.  If it is not used within eight hours, it can fall out of suspension in the stain and it is difficult to blend it a second time for maximum effectiveness.

  • Can I use Bug Juice with Woodguard Stain?

This can be done with some difficulty, but we don't recommend it as there's now a better solution for the task.

Bug Juice's water base doesn't mix well with Woodguard's oil base on its own, so you need to add Penetrol to the Bug Juice so it will stay in proper suspension in the Woodguard.  For the full formula, please contact Woodguard's manufacturer ISK Biocides at 800-238-2523.

In response to demand for a quality carpenter bee killer to use with Woodguard, ISK Biocides formulated the Bee Gone Insecticide with a large concentration of Permethrin insecticide in an oil base mix that would blend well with Woodguard straight out of the bottle.

  • How long will Bug Juice be effective after painting wood siding and trim?

Bug Juice's manufacturer reports that it will typically last two to five years when mixed with stains or paint and the exterior has been cleaned on a regular basis. The insecticide cross-links with the paint coating, so it generally follows the effectiveness of your paint. Once your paint or stain starts breaking down, the Bug Juice will start wearing away as well.

  • Will Bug Juice kill carpenter bees?

Bug Juice is a great solution for crawling insects since it is a contact insecticide. If the carpenter bee crawls along the surface of the finish, the insecticide will soak up through its legs and will kill the bee within 24-48 hours. But during that time, the bee can still drill his hole making it accessible for more bees to nest without touching the wall. You might also want to look at Bee Gone insecticide which does target the Carpenter Bees.

  • Does it affect pets or humans when we walk on lay on the deck?

Bug Juice is safe for humans and pets to touch and walk on after it dries. Bug Juice's active ingredient, Deltamethrin, targets insects' mucous membranes and is rated safe for exterior and interior use. I would, though, wear gloves and eye protection when working with Bug Juice as it is a potent insecticide. Bug Juice will be safe to touch when the paint it is bound with dries.

  • Does this product have to be mixed in with a stain or paint?

Bug Juice insecticide must be mixed in with a finish for it to be effective. Bug Juice's manufacturer does not recommend that it be mixed with water.
