More Information

Weatherall UV Guard Application Methods
• Weatherall UV Guard can be easily applied by brush, airless sprayer or pump style garden sprayer.
• If spray application is used, back brushing is mandatory. Immediately brush all runs.

Weatherall UV Guard Application Information
• Always test a stain sample on your wood.
• The wood surface must be free from all dirt, stains, oil, grease, mildew, fungus or loose bark prior to stain application.
• Throughly stir all containers before use. It is recommended to box or mix multiple containers of stain to ensure color consistency.
• It is not recommend that Weatherall Clear UV Guard be used as the only exterior coating.
• Weatherall UV Guard Advance should be applied only as the "finish coat" after at least two (2) coats of stain have been applied or as a maintenance cost to reseal a previous finish. Both products used together offer the maximum amount of protection and durability.
• UV Guard Exterior Stain should be dry to the touch in 30 minutes to 1 hour and completely dry in 24 to 48 hours depending on ambient temperature and relative humidity.
• The second coat can be applied as a wet-on-wet application or a wet-on-dry application.
• Apply stain between 40 and 90 degrees. Do not apply UV Guard in direct sunlight.
• Avoid ladder marks by staining from top to bottom.

Weatherall UV Guard Maintenance Information
• When the finish starts to look dull, clean the surface and re-apply the UV Guard Advance Clear Wood Finish.
• It is recommended that the UV Guard Advance be applied every 2 to 4 years on the southern exposure and every 3 to 5 years on the other sides of the structure.
• Please note that the overall durability of the stain is dramatically affected by the preparation of the wood prior to staining and how well the application guidelines are followed.

Weatherall UV Guard Clean Up
• Clean up immediately with soap and water.
• Dried brushes will require cleaning with lacquer thinner.

Good product

We used 3 sample colors to see what would be just right for our living room logs. We do love UV Guard, but decided to go with MinWax oil based stain (Early American) because we preferred it for this application. The 3 samples we used were: Honey Brown, Light Brown, & Amber. Honestly, they are virtually the same colors when applied to Doug Fir (red fir) boards.

Weatherall UV Guard

I had used this on my exterior larch live edge siding. It went on easily and brightened up the siding, 2 coats and it looks amazing. Liked the product so much, I’m using it on the interior of my log home. 3600 square feet of knotty pine ceiling and log walls, getting ready to spray. UV Guard on my test pieces, looks better than 4 other samples and the UV protection will prevent any discoloration from sunlight.

Great exterior stain

Product goes on well, looks great. 5-gal pail goes a long way. I applied two coats of the light brown and one coat of clear to the pine log siding of my home.

Great product

Very nice product. The fluidity makes application easy & vast coverage. Thought I’d need more product to cover our barn but was delighted to have a little left over.

Great quality product. Goes on smoothly, protects and looks great. I added Bee Guard also from Twin Creeks.

Have used this product since building our log home in 1989 and after the initial two coats it only requires an additional coat every 4 to 5 years to keep the place looking great. The honey brown stain darkens a bit with each application but still maintains the natural log look.

Great Looking Product

Spent all summer restoring the exterior of my 2100 sq. ft. New Hampshire log home. D profile logs...Stripped, powerwashed, ground and sanded log ends, sanded every log face to 80 grit and applied UV Guard Honey Brown and Clear with a brush. Looks AMAZING!! Product performs as advertised and I am anxious to see how it holds up to the winter cold and summer sun. It is very watery though, so be careful to not get too much on your brush. And remember, PREPWORK makes all the difference!
